I hope you enjoy reading this poem with your parents.
Sharing the Road
From the window of our school bus,
We can see the busy road.
There's a dump truck and a tow truck
And a pickup with a load.
There's a fire truck! Police car!
Now I see the ice cream man!
There's a mail truck and a sports car
And a white delivery van.
There are cars and truck and bicycles,
A giant city bus.
We can see them out of window
As they share the road with us.

Social Studies
On Friday, we learned that Canada is home to many animals. You watched a five-minute video on polar bears, squirrels, moose, snowy owls, whales, blue jays, and seals. Did you remember to ask your parents and grandparents which of these animals they like best? I like the blue jay best and so does my son. He is younger than you are and likes it because his favourite colour is blue. Your homework for Tuesday is going to be about a white animal, not a blue one. Can you guess which one I am talking about? Do you remember what it looks like ? Please visit the website Snowy-owl and look at the three photos. Also, ask your parents to read to you the facts. Choose any three facts (short), write them down on three strips of paper and bring them to class. You will share with the class what you learned about the snowy owls. Have fun!

Language Arts
On Wednesday, we practiced the letters in the word "spring" and spring words that start with these letters. You did a great job coming up with so many different spring words. Also, I really enjoyed listening to the poems you wrote in class. You were so creative! What I would like you to do now is click on Minibooks to make your own spring mini book. Your job is to print the black and white (B&W) mini book templates at the bottom of the page, colour them, bind them and read the story with your parents. On Thursday, I am going to ask one of you to read the story in class and show his or her mini book to the students.

Math
On Tuesday, we learned about pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies and toonies in class. I remember you all had fun choosing what "silly" things to buy from the poster on the board. As part of this lesson, I invite you to explore Coins productions . You will see some fun songs about coins on this website. Your homework is to listen to the songs and remember the first two lines of your favourite one. I am going to ask you to sing it in our music class. Don't forget to bring your smiles on Monday!

Science
Last week, you built your own car using cardboard, wooden skewers, construction paper and clothes pegs. It was as part of our lesson on devices that use energy. Did you remember to ask your parents to use a drier to power your car up? I would love to know how fast your car was. For next Monday, visit Painting for kids where you can see lots of interesting pictures. Please look at the devices that use energy and think which one you like best and why. Please draw your favourite device and write three sentences about why you like it?
